I can’t help but note similarities between last year’s Pinstripe Bowl and this year’s Music City. Both were hot teams heavily favored over teams coming off of mediocre seasons. In both cases, the underdog came out with an unexpected offensive game plan. In both cases, an injury (injuries) took out key players.
That is where the difference lies. Pitt could not handle the loss of their team leaders. NU held together and brought home the win. It speaks volumes to the dynamic of the locker room that the team banded together and did not let down.
