Peoples thoughts of Biles pulling out of team competition

Interestingly, The British had a claim to Alaska as well. On June 1, 1776 Captain Cook's men planted the British Flag at Point Possession just across Turnagain Arm which extends to where I am presently here in Anchorage. Considering that the Russians paid nothing that 7 million dollars from the U.S. was free money. :)

Per chance, I just happened to take these photos earlier today which chronicle the subject event:

Did the $7M down payment include the moose? Or did they have to be imported separately by America?

So much ignorance and misinformation about this, which isn't surprising.

She could have done it before the event as I believe they have an alternate available. The more I think about it the more wrong I feel she was. And that is because what she did to her teammates and everyone else involved. Her actions could have denied them any chance at a medal. For some of those women, it is the only chance they will ever have to be in olympics and win the gold or any medal. It is remarkable that they were able to get the silver after what she did. If she wasn't in a position to compete, she should have let them substitute for her when they still could but when and how she did it...Just wrong

Biles started experiencing the "twisties" after the prelims.

She tried to battle through it but it became too dangerous for her to continue (she had previously nevered experienced twisties on the beam and bars prior, but this time, it affected her for every event.

Before Biles pulled out of the individual all-around, she fell flat on her back after trying to do a 1-1/2 twist during practice of the uneven bars.

She was lucky that she was able to land without injury in her vault because she was lost/confused while she was in the air.

Biles' teammates are fully behind her - they understand that the twisties can arise at the most inopportune time, and her withdrawing gave an opportunity for others to shine.

She certainly let her team down and since its a team sport, it was costly.
While a physical injury would be forgiveable, "just not being into it" is not.

It was certainly selfish. And its not ok. Hopefully she can become more mentally prepared for things in life as she works through future experiences.

This is pretty simple. Biles is selfish and weak. She let her team and country down without showing any fight or guts. You don’t sign up for the Olympics or major competitions if you don’t like pressure. She took a spot of other young gymnasts who want the chance to compete and want the pressure of the big stage. It started with the tennis player who makes millions of dollars but finds interviews “too stressful“. It’s a joke. Biles is done and so is her legacy !
PS. The liberal media will make her a hero for quitting.

She’s a weak and selfish athlete who cares more about herself than her team, teammates and country. Her legacy is someone who quit when her team needed her the most.

She's a survivor of repeated sexual assault and yet has gone on to become the GOAT.

She tried to fight through the twisties, but it evidently was too dangerous for her to continue.

Twisties is when a gymnast loses her/his spatial awareness while doing a twist/flip, and are disoriented while in the air, so cab be very dangerous as they try to land on their feet but often end up landing elsewhere.

One gymnast had the twisties for the 1st and last time.

She ended up breaking her neck and is paralyzed.

It would have been selfish (notwithstanding the danger) for her to have continued.

And as stated above, Biles withdrawing gave the opportunity for others to shine.

MyKayla Skinner was about to head home on a flight (thinking her Olympic career was over) when Biles told the coaches to tell her not to leave.

With Biles withdrawing from the individual vault, Skinner got the chance to compete and won a silver.

Carey won the gold in floor exercise after stumbling in the vault.

Both got words of encouragement from Biles.

Suni Lee won the all-around which she may not have been able to do with a fully-functioning Biles (but who knows, maybe Lee would have been able to beat Biles).

The sad and pathetic thing is that there were numerous politicians from her own home state who ignorantly attacked Biles with pretty much the same words/sentiment.

Funny how these politicians didn't make anywhere the same noise about the corrupt USA Gymastics and the Nasser sexual assaults; and it's hardly just Nasser, lot's of abuse of verbal/emotional abuse of young teenage girls (a major reason why Biles returned to the Olympics was to keep putting pressure on USA Gymastics to reform and hold those responsible, accountable).

But then again, haven't heard a peep from them about Baylor getting off scott-free in how they handled sexual assaults/rapes.

They blast someone who deserves none of it, whereas politicians of this stripe dawned over and vehemently defended known cheaters - Armstrong and Clemens.

No doubt that covid is going around, i know a bunch of peeps who tested positive. The old fashioned advice works best, ie., if you are sick, stay home.
Even though its just a fleeting fever for most, or otherwise no big deal unless someone has diabetes or has one foot in the grave already, we should still follow current data and if data shows a wicked turn then we should be sensitive to that. Mlb, nfl and NU have declared that its really no big deal as they will all breach 6 ft spacing rules during this season just like the Deer District.
As an unvaxed educated person, i now know that the vax didnt prevent covid. People who got hoodwinked and got the vax should think twice from having to get boosters every 6 months then every 3 months then total dependency with aids like immune systems. Be very very careful.

95% of the seriously ill in ICUs are unvaccinated.

There are hospitals across the country (mostly in the South) where there are no more pediatric ICU beds available, so if you have a seriously ill kid from something other than Covid, going to need to Medivac them to another region which costs major $$.

There are young pregnant women or those who just gave birth (usually from an early C-section) dying.

Physicians are telling stories of people who thought it was all a hoax pleading their doctor to get vaccinated (too late for them) as they worsen in the ICU.

Unfortunately, it's taken the death of a loved one to convince family members to finally get vaccinated.

A conservative talk show host who did the usual - it's all a fraud/hoax, freedom, etc. spiel ended up dying from Covid and regretted that he spread misinformation.

But there are those who are dying from Covid who still think it's a hoax or family members who think a loved one died from something else and not Covid since it doesn't exist.

That person had to come in cold rather than having the proper opportunity to prepare. She could have done it prior to competing in the first event and they alternate would have been in better position. Or she could have done it a day or two before. Or even further back and someone new not in Tokyo) would have been on the team. She deprived someone of getting their chance.

An alternate is supposed to be always at the ready; that's the whole point of an alternate is to sub in when injury arises.

If Biles hadn't attempted to compete, you'd probably would have been all over her for not even attempting to give it a go.

I treated many elite level gymnasts during my career. Many of the young ladies that reach the Olympics have been developed in a corrupt, uncaring environment. The problem begins in the family and is then exaggerated by the "coaches". who discard injured gymnasts like they were spoiled milk. The Olympic gymnasts have survived in a system of intense pressure and unforgiving expectations

The stress on immature shoulders and elbows that is encouraged, if not mandated by high level programs/coaches, takes a heavy toll on these young athletes.
I had a nationally-ranked swimmer in my class. The pressure her dad put on her eventually broke her emotionally. Her coach tried to get him to back off which he refused to do. Very sad.

You seem to think the vaccine eventually replaces our immune system. Or that one is "Nature's way" and the other isn't.

LOL!

That's not how this works at all. ROTFLMAO!!!

OMG, that is so fricking ignorant! ROTFLMAO!!!

All that "education" coming home to roost. LMAO!
While that is true, it appears as if the other part of Turk's statement of requiring booster after booster may have some merit as CDC is not exploring ordering everyone to get boosters starting this fall. They are looking at data out of Israel showing that immunity starts dropping dramatically after about 8 months. Pfizer down to 55% after 8 months. (Pfizer is primarily what they gave)
