Merriam-Webster defines a fan as “a very enthusiastic supporter or admirer.” The word fan itself came about as a shortened form of the word fanatic, meaning “marked by excessive enthusiasm and often intense uncritical devotion.” or you can choose..an apparatus with rotating blades that creates a current of air for cooling or ventilation. and of course there is the fair-weather fan. A person who is supportive of and enthusiastic about a sports team only when that team is performing well.
Just Saying,,,there are 14 teams in the B10,,of all of them based on size, academic limitations and geographical recreational competition NU probably faces the biggest hill to climb....and yet against all odds and detractors , out of the ashes came the "95" Cats and for a period of almost 25 years and consistently provided a competitive team, resulting in some B10 Championships and playing in the hallowed CB10 championship game where they represented. and now THIS lone, isolated year of sparse celebrations and copious group groans. you are going to throw in the towel???? has the program improved but the fan(?) base become spoiled? So we quickly throw everyone in the program under the bus...but arent we part of the equation? Are we the equivalent of the Los Angles Dodger fans...teflon,,,spared by the emotion of the moment....this year sucks,,,,embrace the pain show up and tailgate, have some drinks with your friends ,,watch and enjoy the drama (where we know the ending) and support the team that will , despite what must really be painful to them ,give a great effort..Now stop feeling sorry for yourself and GET OUT THERE AND BE A FAN..... c u at the game
