Maybe the bye in the playoffs isn't an advantage.

A win is a win for ND but Georgia helped them out. A long drop in the first half, giving back 15 yards when they had it at the eleven, giving up the kick return, and jumping off-sides on the critical fourth down. I think I've got Georgia if they re-matched.
So in other words, Notre Dame played better!

Honestly, this was an easy game to pick for a pick ‘em. I should have teased the game to the -9 at +240 like I said I was going to do.

Travel question

I am old enough to remember the old Big Ten schedule that was very academics / travel friendly. Paired teams were: MSU/UM. IU/OSU, Purdue/Illinois, NU/Wisconsin, Iowa/Minnesota. Thursday / Saturday games. One trip every two weeks.

Getting on my soapbox, please don't be mad about players getting paid. The Universities decided a LONG time ago that football and men's basketball were big business, and that the players were students subordinate to being television product.

There's no way a ref should be blowing his whistle while the ball is bouncing around the rim unless he is calling a foul.
He didn't call a foul, so what the hell is he doing?
And I don't believe the ref blew his whistle before Barnhizer scored, so that basket should have counted.
And the Big dude on PSU definitely smacked the rim while the ball was partly in the cylinder, so the original shot should have counted.

Blatant theft or total incompetence.
Hence they called it an inadvertant whistle. Can't it be both?

One thing to mess up the actual live play but then to botch the review in MULTIPLE ways.

The Rant Board

Those officials cannot be assigned to us again or the fix is in
If I see them on the floor at NU ever again, I will buy every pretzel in the building, and give them to the students with the instructions to launch them at my command. Being carpet bombed by large doughy pretzels is an old Hessian war tactic that incapacitates any enemy,

I had thought that if they did wave off the goal tend it would still be a score. But if the whistle blew before it left BBs hand. And did it matter than BB was in continuation and was in the air the whole time. Important to know when the whistle actually blew and if there can be any continuation as there is for a foul
If you watch and listen to the replay looks like about 6.1 secs left when the whistle blows, the ball is out of Barnhizers hand already.

Kenpom helpfully tracks referees, so I was able to see that one of tonight's referees, Earl Walton, is in his 2nd year doing Big 10 games with regularity. Last year, we went 12-8 in conference, but just 2-4 in games where he was one of the refs, including our home OT win over Purdue where Edey got to shoot a then-career high 20 FTs. He was also one of the refs in the Chicago State game that we lost, along with our NCAA tourney game against UCLA the year before.

One of the other refs, Will Howard, reffed his first-ever Big 10 game tonight.

The third ref was Paul Szelc, who is a longtime Big 10 ref, and nothing really jumped out at me from his previous NU games.

Obviously I have no way to know which ref called which fouls, but if I'm Collins I'd focus on making sure Walton doesn't ref our games the rest of the year.
Were those Walton losses all during away games? I mean we were 2 and 8 on the road, correct? Not sure the 2-4 means as much if they were all road games.
