I was surprised Collins was so calm after the inadvertant whistle screw job, but let's not pretend he never screams at the refs. Remember @Purdue last year?

Collins exceptionally calm and deferential. Wonder if he hasn’t seen the tape or if he’s putting on an act because he has to. And if that act is smart/beneficial. Not sure.

I had thought that if they did wave off the goal tend it would still be a score. But if the whistle blew before it left BBs hand. And did it matter than BB was in continuation and was in the air the whole time. Important to know when the whistle actually blew and if there can be any continuation as there is for a foul

Kenpom helpfully tracks referees, so I was able to see that one of tonight's referees, Earl Walton, is in his 2nd year doing Big 10 games with regularity. Last year, we went 12-8 in conference, but just 2-4 in games where he was one of the refs, including our home OT win over Purdue where Edey got to shoot a then-career high 20 FTs. He was also one of the refs in the Chicago State game that we lost, along with our NCAA tourney game against UCLA the year before.

One of the other refs, Will Howard, reffed his first-ever Big 10 game tonight.

The third ref was Paul Szelc, who is a longtime Big 10 ref, and nothing really jumped out at me from his previous NU games.

Obviously I have no way to know which ref called which fouls, but if I'm Collins I'd focus on making sure Walton doesn't ref our games the rest of the year.

I don't know for sure but would be very surprised if they don't plan to stay on the west coast in between those two games. It's not coincidence that the road games were scheduled back to back. The Washington game looks to be at 9:30pm central on Saturday, February 8 (not March). If they flew back after that one, even on charter, they wouldn't get home until late morning on Sunday. Then they'd need to fly back to Oregon the next day. No reason to do that.

On the other hand, I'm guessing that NU will fly home late tonight after the game at Penn State and will then fly (or bus) to Purdue on Saturday in preparation for Sunday's game there.

Windham should have played 10 mins per night during the preseason games. Leach is not a point guard and is killing us against the press (wait until Maryland! I saw a few minutes of their game against Washington and their press is stifling).

That game had two sets of rules: One for PSU, and one for NU. If there was ever a need for disciplinary action against a crew, tonight's game is Exhibit A. That was the worst officiating I’ve seen in any sporting event ever. There’s nothing even close.

While Finebaum did sort of a mea culpa, it was absolutely disgusting (even taking account that he works for the SEC network) how lopsided his "analysis" has been the past couple of weeks.

Blah, blah, blah - who did Indiana play/where are their good/great wins, but nothing stated about Texas which was in the same boat.

Repeating ad nauseum about dOSU spending $20 mil on NIL, but again, silence on Texas (and other schools which spent more); nevermind all those years when the SEC was paying players under the table.

Ironically, UT is the last hope for the SEC and many SEC fans earlier in the season were saying that Texas was not yet a real SEC program.

If the ball is still in the cylinder after being blocked, touching of the rim is a goaltend...

Not sure who this guy is but doesn’t look like NU affiliated. Replies from a lot of non NU fans incredulous about the officiating…except the PSU fans.
